Ave’Madiol Veneklasen received her degree in Painting and Drawing from Grand Valley State University. Born in Illinois, she grew up surrounded by paintings done by her Dutch Grandfather, Arnold Madiol, and his Ancestors, who were famous portrait artists in the European tradition in the Netherlands. This visual exposure, along with the rich and colorful narratives by her father, James A. Madiol, inspired her to pursue her talents.
Landscape painting has been a constant obsession for Ave throughout her artistic career. The beauty of the Michigan seasons have inspired and delighted her. The sensuous use of paint is direct and textural, and sparkles with color. She works on location where the language of the location itself brings fresh insights. Working in both acrylic and oils, Ave uses both brush and palette knife.
Ave has exhibited extensively throughout the Midwest. Her studio, Studio Deeplyart, is in Jackson, Michigan where she resides wither her husband, Steven and her sheltie, Simba.
