Cynthia Yates seeks to record the natural beauty of Michigan and nearby states, often focusing on this region’s fascinating waterways, flora, fauna and accompanying built environment. Her plein air paintings primarily are done in her life-long painting medium, water color, or occasionally in oils. In addition to plein air painting events, she exhibits with Great Lakes Plein Air Painters Association, Michigan Water Color Society, and local juried shows such as those at Lawrence Street Gallery in Ferndale, and at the Birmingham Community House’s Our Town exhibit.
