Janet received her BFA from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Mi and her MFA from
Eastern Michigan University. She currently teaches Pastel & Landscape Painting at the Visual Arts Association of Livonia and at Interlochen College of Creative Arts, Interlochen, MI and Fall workshops in the Loire Valley, France.
Janet’s pastels and oils have been exhibited nationally and internationally and are included in many
corporate and private collections and published in several publications. She has been recognized
with numerous awards and honors from many juried competitions and exhibitions: 1 st place “Quick
Paint” 2018, 2017 and 2015 and an Honorable Mention 2017 at the Great Lakes Bay En Plein Air
competition in Saginaw. She took 3rd in 2018 and 2nd in 2017 & 2016 at the Glen Arbor paint out.
During the 2018 Dexter Plein Air Festival, Janet placed 2nd in the Professional Category, and 1st in
the Quick Draw competition 2014 & 2013. She was one of three plein-air artists to be invited for the
first “en Plein Air” Exhibit at Studio 23, Bay City, June 2016 in conjunction with the Great Lakes Bay
En Plein-Air Competition. She also received 1 st Place and People’s Choice Award at the 6 th Annual
Key West Paint-out.
Janet is the Secretary of the Great Lakes Pastel Society, a member of Michigan Plein Air Painters,
Pastel Society of America, Ann Arbor Women Artists, and Suzanne Haskew Arts Center. Her
paintings are represented by Mr. Miller’s Art Emporium in Douglas, (Saugatuck) MI and Suzanne
Haskew Arts Center (SHAC) Milford, MI.
