Janet Kohler’s pastels and oils have been exhibited nationally and internationally and included in many corporate and private collections. Janet has been recognized with numerous awards and honors from many juried exhibitions and plein-air competitions throughout the United States. She received her BFA from CCS in Detroit and her MFA from EMU. Her extensive teaching career of 25 years, included weekly pastel and landscape painting classes at the Visual Arts Association of Livonia and summer pastel workshops at Interlochen College of Creative Arts, Interlochen, MI, and several plein-air retreats in the Loire Valley of France. She taught color mixing with pastels, plein-air painting, figure drawing, and painting at the Ann Arbor Art Center, Drawing I at Washtenaw Community College, drawing workshops at University of Michigan, pastel painting workshops at Crooked Tree Art Center, Petoskey, Jackson Civic Art Association, and the Art School at Old Church, Demarest, NJ. 

Janet is a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the Great Lakes Pastel Society, and a member of the Michigan Plein Air Painters and Northville Art House.
